Position: Assistant General Manager

Terms of Employment: Full-time / Permanent

Location: Yorkville, Ontario

Hours of Work: 44 hours/week

Café Nervosa opened its doors at the corner of Yorkville and Bellair in 1996. Later renamed Trattoria Nervosa, this little yellow house continues to thrive as a neighborhood meeting place, attracting both familiar and new faces every day. Duties:

Hiring and Retaining Top Talent

·         Create new leaders in the industry through mentorship and coach programs

·         Conduct in-house orientations & onboarding

·         Fostering an environment of reward & recognition

Training & Development

·         Hold regular training meetings to consistently develop knowledge and skills of team members

·         Schedule 1 on 1’s with Team Members, both hourly & leadership

·         Manage & Update in house testing

·         Ongoing development of Gusto Certified Coaches

·         Ownership of Pre-shift meetings

Controlling Profit & Loss alongside GM

·         Maintaining optimal labour percentages; oversee FOH scheduling, avoiding overtime

·         Oversee Inventory Reports and address any variance

·         Assist GM on achieving target COGS

Curate an Awesome Guest Experience

·         Create and monitor systems to ensure consistency in product and service

·         Curating an enjoyable experience for guests and resolving any complains that may arise

·         Touch tables and build rapport with Guests alongside floor managers

·         Maintain pristine dining area

·         Oversee Guest Recoveries

Manage Daily Operations

·         Creating staff work schedules

·         Build Sales and Guest Loyalty

·         Manage POS and system updates alongside GM

·         Oversee Equipment Maintenance

·         Following and enforcing all restaurant policies and procedures

Maintain Safe Workplace

·         Lead monthly Health + Safety meetings in compliance with Health & Safety Act and ensuring regulations are being followed

·         Ensures Safe Food Handling in being enforced

·         Ensures all service team members are Smart Serve Certified

·         Manages in compliance with harassment, workplace violence, and inclusivity policies

Requirements:

 

·         Completion of a college program related to hospitality

·         1+ years of restaurant management experience is required

·         Intermediate knowledge of Italian Wine

·         Proficient in full-service restaurant functions

·         Ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays

·         Experience working in Italian cuisine

·         Strong Leadership and Communication skills

·         Strategic and Innovative Thinker

·         Valid First Aid Certificated is required

·         Valid Smart Serve Certificate is required

·         Passionate, Positive, and Approachable

·         Italian language skills preferred
