**About Motto:**
Motto is a one-of-a-kind handroll bar specializing in serving fresh, made-to-order handrolls in a fast-paced, counter-style setting. Located in the heart of the Old Port of Montreal, Motto offers an intimate Japanese-style experience, where 20 guests sit around the bar and are served directly by the chef. The menu consists of 8 different hand rolls, sides along with beer and sake options, ensuring a simple yet refined dining experience.
At Motto, we believe that the essence of great Japanese cuisine lies in the balance of freshness, precision, and simplicity. Our approach brings an authentic yet modern touch to handrolls, creating a dining experience that is personal, engaging, and unforgettable.
**Position Overview:**
We are seeking Sushimen and Sushiwomen with some kitchen experience who are passionate about Japanese cuisine and would like to learn how to prepare handrolls. You will be part of a dynamic, chef-driven experience, providing exceptional quality and interaction with guests in a one-of-a-kind setting.
We will offer training by a renowned sushi chef.
**Responsibilities:**
- Perform delegated tasks from our Executive Chef and/or General Manager
- Prepare handrolls in a timely and efficient manner according to in-house recipes and presentation specifications
- Assist in daily food preparations and inventory management (e.g., ability to inspect, receive, and store all raw bar-related items)
- Ensure smooth and seamless service by maintaining a clean work environment and adhering to Motto’s high standards of hygiene and food safety regulations
- Engage with guests directly at the counter, providing a personalized and memorable dining experience
- Contribute to maintaining the overall flow and energy of the omakase-style service

Requirements
**Qualifications:**
- 1-2 years of cooking experience in a restaurant
- Willingness with or without knowledge, and ability to execute Japanese cuisine, with a focus on handrolls
- Ability to multi-task, stay organized, and maintain professionalism under pressure
- Must live in Montreal or have a valid Canadian work visa
- Bilingual (French and English) is an asset
