Auberge Restaurant Les Ancêtres is currently looking for an experienced cook to join our kitchen team! Our restaurant is a true bistronomic institution located on Île d’Orléans, and has been in operation for over 50 years. Les Ancêtres is, above all, a family story passed down from generation to generation — a desire to showcase our local culture and the delicious richness of our terroir, all with authenticity.

It’s also a sought-after venue for corporate events, birthdays, and much more. Our work environment is often described as feeling like a small, close-knit family.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities
– Collaborate closely with the Executive Chef to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
– Oversee and manage evening service.
– Analyze and plan daily tasks to ensure a cohesive and efficient workflow.
– Review available stock and ingredients, and organize the mise en place for dinner service.
– Prepare and execute recipes with attention to detail and consistency.
– Monitor the quality of dishes before they are served.
– Ensure proper food preservation, including ingredient selection, storage methods, and regular checks.
– Maintain a clean and organized workstation, including tools and equipment.
– Perform other related duties as needed.

Required Skills and Qualifications
– Enjoy working as part of a team.
– Communicate clearly and promptly.
– Work efficiently and accurately under pressure.
– Be capable of multitasking in a fast-paced environment.
– Analyze problems or unexpected situations and make sound decisions quickly.
– Apply basic principles of occupational health and safety, as well as food hygiene and sanitation.
– Understand refrigeration equipment and food preservation techniques.
– Have fundamental culinary knowledge and familiarity with kitchen terminology.
– Manage food allergy risks with care and diligence.
– Possess solid math skills for calculating quantities and proportions.
– Have a good sense of aesthetics and presentation.
– Demonstrate autonomy and adaptability.
