Job Duties and Responsibilities:

 

Kobe Sizzlers is a “Sizzler joint” and steak house brand specializing in the creation of high quality sizzlers with a twist of India in all aspects of the restaurant. The chain originally started in India in 1975 and has expanded to include more than 30 restaurants in India as well as newly opened restaurants in the United Arab Emirate, Bangalore and now, in Canada. We are looking for a seasoned head chef who will be responsible for the setup of the kitchen and training of staff of the Kobe Sizzlers confidential (secret) recipes. The detailed responsibilities of the position include:

 

·         Plan and direct food preparation and cooking activities of the restaurant, which includes a variety of meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables and other food items;

·         Prepare and cook dishes based off of Kobe Sizzlers in-house sauces and recipes;

·         Hire and train staff for preparation of items for grilling, frying sautéing or other cooking methods by portioning battering, breading, seasoning and/or marinating in in-house recipes;

·         Supervise cooks and other workers in the proper plating and garnishing presentation procedures of Kobe Sizzlers Dishes;

·         Communicate with the team and management regarding preparation of new recipes for Kobe Sizzlers; Estimate food requirements, and food and labour costs;

·         Arrange for kitchen equipment purchases and repairs;

·         Prepare and cook food on a regular basis, or for special guests or functions.

Requirements

Full Requirements and Desired Skill Set:

 

·          Minimum five (5+) years of experience working in an Indian restaurant;

·          Minimum five (5) years of experience managing a kitchen as a head chef;

·          Extensive experience training cooks and other kitchen staff in steakhouse restaurants;

·          Knowledge of food costs, ordering, inventory management, working schedules, and menu creation;

·          Specializes in grilling, frying, and sautéing meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables and other food items;

·          Excellent communication and organizational skills;

·          Ability to work under pressure, in a fastpaced environment;

·          Capable of working evenings, weekends and holidays.
