The Metcalfe Hotel delivers in Ottawa an understated luxury to world travelers by showcasing our rich building history and connecting to the current culture, community, and people that make Ottawa a lively 21st century capital city. Newly fully renovated and now part of Gray Collection, our hotel is now entering a new era!

Cocotte Bistro, will be a refined yet casual take on an authentic French bistro with a distinctly National Capital lens, a classic yet contemporary approach to French bistro cuisine. Cocotte Bistro will also bet on bubbles by the glass, thoughtfully sourced ingredients, social hour specials and sharing items prepared and served en cocotte.

The Host is a leader in warm, inviting hospitality, quickly welcoming all guests and genuinely thanking each guest as they leave. The successful candidate will be an ambassador to Cocotte and the hotel while contributing to the overall success of the guest experience. The Host will be responsible for the organization and control of the seating and flow of guests in the dining room, bar and café.

Job Duties
     * Welcoming all guests entering the restaurant and thanking all guests who are leaving; asking how they enjoyed their meal and how their experience was;
     * Answering the telephone and responding to reservation requests, and all other information
     * Setting up and organizing the host area and other areas of responsibility throughout your shift, including cleaning and organization of all menus;
     * Clear, clean, sanitize and reset guest tables in the dining room, lounge and café and meeting rooms as needed;
     * Delivering room service orders to guest rooms as per standard protocols;
     * Practice a very high level of communication and teamwork with peers and management;
     * Provide genuine hospitality by engaging with guests throughout their entire experience, maintaining a positive personality throughout;
     * Conducting guest restroom checks, maintaining the front lobby cleanliness, and cleaning the agreed designated areas by following checklist procedures and opening or closing routines;
     * Following established standards for greeting guests entering the restaurant, always prioritizing the guests’ experience and needs;
     * Assisting guests and responding to their needs; ensuring you help the guest in either directing them to the restroom, getting their server, or other requests;
     * Organize and control the seating of guests using correct procedures and practices;
     * Assist other staff members and management with other duties, tasks, and cleaning responsibilities;
     * Be continually aware of, and maintain, the highest standards of professionalism by following the company dress code; maintain a professional appearance, demeanor, and attitude at all times;
     * Protect the health and safety of others by adopting safe work practices and reporting unsafe conditions immediately;
