Job description
We seek to hire a highly energetic and detail-oriented Line Cook to join our small kitchen team. The Line Cook will prepare and cook menu items according to recipes while ensuring the workstation is clean, efficient, and well-organized. This position will require strong commitment to high-quality food preparation and attention to details, including teamwork in a fast-moving environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Food Preparation and Cooking: Prepare ingredients and cook dishes according to restaurant recipes and presentation guidelines. Ensure that all food is prepared to a consistently high standard, appealing in presentation, and meets quality and portion control guidelines.
- Station Setup and Organization: Set up and stock assigned station with necessary supplies before service begins. Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient workstation throughout the shift.
- Quality Control: Check the freshness and quality of ingredients; relate any problems to the manager on shift. Enforce food safety and hygienic standards to ensure customers safety.
- Time Management: Pacing and speed, with particular pressure at peak service times, and with accuracy regarding preparation and garnishing of food. Liaise with the rest of the kitchen staff for delivery on time and consistency of dishes.
- Safety & Sanitation: Follow all safety and sanitation policies, including proper handling, storage, and labeling of food. Keep work area and equipment clean and sanitized according to health code requirements.
- Inventory & Supplies: Assist with inventory checks, rotate stock, and notify management when supplies are running low.
- Team Collaboration: Work with the kitchen team to ensure smooth service. Effectively communicate to other cooks as needed.
Requirements
Qualifications:
Experience: Minimum 1-year experience as a Line Cook or equivalent kitchen role; highly motivated and talented entry-level candidates also welcomed.
Skills:
- Knowledge of basic cooking techniques, kitchen equipment
- Fast-paced environment ability to multitask
- Strong communication and team cooperation
- Attention to detail with regard to food preparation and presentation.
- Physical Requirements: Must be able to stand for extended periods, bend, lift up to 50 lbs, and work in a hot, rapid environment.
Schedule:
This position may require flexible scheduling depending on the needs of the restaurant; this includes but is not limited to evenings, weekends, and holidays.
