Job description

Position Profile:

Reporting to the Food and Beverage Manager, the Maître d’ Hôtel will be responsible for providing a distinguished, premium service in the Clubhouse dining facilities.

Qualified applicants must have excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to lead by example and a passion for providing personalized service to an exclusive Membership.

We are looking for a dynamic and energetic individual who excels in a team environment and is passionate about the service industry and training new individuals. The term of this seasonal position is from April through October annually.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the training of all Dining Staff
  • Co-ordinate and the scheduling of all Dining Staff
  • Co-ordinate and conduct meetings with staff prior to each service event
  • Replace the evening Supervisor two days per week
  • Assist in daily operations
  • Ensure all service standards are met or exceeded
  • Ensure the mise en place is done for each service
  • Ensure tables and reservations are properly set
  • Managing wine cellar, ensuring it is well stocked and organized
  • Assist with the monthly inventory count of wine, bar, and other products
  • Update daily, weekly and feature menus
  • Update Jonas Point of Sale items daily and/or weekly
  • Be aware of the contact for all event suppliers (DJ, florist, etc.)
  • Make wine selections for Club events, assist convenor/host of event with their wine selection for all functions
  • Monitor the effectiveness of the wine list with regard to customer satisfaction, adjusting when necessary
  • Selecting the purchasing wines, designing the wine list
  • Advising customers on food and wine pairings
  • Provide support and assist all staff in the Food and Beverage Department

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in an elegant dining operation
  • Fluently Bilingual (French and English)
  • Experience in a private golf club environment is considered an asset
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, the Internet and Jonas POS
  • A strong knowledge of wines, including food pairings
  • The proven ability to cope in a dynamic environment

 

Evaluation:

The performance of the Maître d’hôtel shall be evaluated annually by the Food and Beverage Manager. Such evaluation will be based on results achieved with respect to specific objectives established when planning the Club’s operations and services for the year.
