A major Quebec financial group with a subsidiary in restaurant services is looking for a Restaurant General Manager for a new gourmet restaurant to open in Montreal shortly.

Responsabilities

The Restaurant General Manager will direct, coordinate and plan all restaurant operations to ensure quality of service and products, while exercising budgetary control.  The successful candidate will have demonstrated the ability to lead a team and guide the vision of an operation of the highest quality.  He/she must have a sound knowledge of the restaurant business to increase customer traffic, reduce staff turnover and control the budget to ensure profitability.

Requirements

Main Duties:

  • Achieve operational objectives for all points of service by developing and completing action plans and implementing service, quality and performance standards.
  • Achieve the highest levels of service and exceed customer expectations daily.
  • Liaise with kitchen, bar and sommelier teams and service staff to control costs and reduce waste.
  • Estimate food and beverage consumption and place orders with suppliers.
  • Recruit and develop employees through one-on-one meetings, mentoring and performance appraisals.
  • Comply with government legislation and company policies and procedures, including employee health and safety.
  • Maintain and repair defective equipment.
  • Resolve disputes between co-workers and/or with customers, and make changes as required.
  • Prepare payroll, maintain budget, analyze financial results and manage employee files.
  • Develop a pleasant and dynamic environment in which colleagues work as a team.
  • Support the restaurant’s growth and sales by collaborating on the development of special events and promotions.

  • Ability to manage conflict situations in the workplace.

  • Knowledge of basic operating principles of relevant computer systems.
  • Excellent listening, writing and speaking skills.

Requirements:

University degree in management/administration.

Minimum of 15 years of experience in restaurant services, including at least 5 years in management and supervisory positions.

Bilingualism – French and English
