Overview:

 

Dreyfus is a small family run French restaurant in the Harbord Village. We have a strong focus on Ontario Farms, fresh Canadian seafood and natural wine.

 

Duties:

 

  •          Planning menus and ensure food meets quality standards
  •          Maintaining the restaurant kitchen and ordering produce from suppliers
  •          Preparing and cooking menu items

  • May clean kitchen and work area

  • Supervise cooks and other kitchen staff and overseeing kitchen operations

  • Instruct cooks in preparation, cooking, garnishing and presentation of food

  • Supervise activities of new staff, students and other kitchen workers

  • Preparing and cooking dishes inspired by French cuisine


Requirements

Requirements:

  • Unique and specialized knowledge of French cuisine and seafood preparation and cooking techniques
  • Completion of cooking school education or equivalent training and experience is required
  • Previous experience cooking seafood
  • Previous experience cooking French cuisine an asset
  • 2-3+ years of experience as a cook or chef
  • Previous experience and understanding of inventory and food costs
  • Ability to work and clean independently on designated station
  • Ability to work well with a team
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment

  • Excellent written and oral communication

  • Must be available to work evenings, weekends and holidays
