SUMMARY
As a Cook, your main duties are to produce high quality exceptional Food in a high-capacity kitchen environment to ensure all our products are available for as much of the day as possible.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position is responsible for the following duties:
- Sanitizes food preparation areas as determined by MAPAQ and company policy
- Is aware of kitchen safety procedure, and the location of all MAPAQ record forms
- Prepares foods to the specifications of the company and Kitchen Manager / GM
- Prepares food in a timely and efficient manner
- Portions, arranges, and garnishes food based on the Chef’s, and menu specifications
- Assists other cooks during the food assembly process/line service
- Adjusts menu items to accommodate guests with allergies or specific diet concerns
- Works efficiently and positively with other employees in the kitchen
- Acts as liaison to front-of-house employees to ensure a smooth and friendly line service, and communicates any delays or appropriate concerns
- Preps menu items and components in a timely and efficient manner
- Cross trained on baking and dough preparation if required
- Stores and labels all food items correctly and safely according to MAPAQ standards
- Correctly seasons prep and menu items according to recipe specifications
- Knowledge to operate various kitchen appliances such as a blender, oven, grill, or stand mixer
- Provides feedback in regards new recipes and procedure
- Adheres to company policy and procedure
- Helps wash dishes if needed
*Other duties and special projects may be assigned from time to time.
Exigences
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma
- Culinary/Pastry Diploma is an asset
- Food Safe
- 1-year similar experience
- Flexibility across a 7-day schedule (we do aim for a set schedule; however, this industry does require the need for flexibility on occasion)
Soft Skills:
- VERY passionate about coffee and food
- Knowledge of specialty coffee, coffee and food trends and café operations
- Attention to detail, able to present digestible information effectively
- Ability to work under pressure and manage time effectively to achieve results
- Interest and desire to work in the specialty coffee industry
- Ability to build strong internal working relationships and be an effective communicator
- Have a “no job is too small” mentality: you roll up your sleeves, boldly jump in and get it done!
- Have ability to see a project through from beginning to end while demonstrating the ability to both multi-task effectively and prioritize tasks
- Be results-oriented and process driven, with high expectations of self and team
- Positive outlook, and be able to effectively receive and communicate feedback
Job Type: Part-time
Salary: $14.75-$16.25 per hour
