From fresh groceries to shared gardens, cooking workshops to advocacy, we respond to immediate needs while building community health and working toward a future where everyone has access to healthy food and a voice in transforming the systems that affect their lives.</p><p class="text-node"><strong>ABOUT THE ROLE</strong></p><p class="text-node">The Depot is seeking a collaborative and passionate Food Skills Manager to lead The Depot’s Cook stream, which includes our community meal program, community kitchens, and youth food literacy programming. As a member of the leadership team, you will provide strategic leadership for our Food Skills programming, support a talented and engaged team, champion our Healthy Food Policy and strengthen community partnerships.</p><p class="text-node">If you are an experienced nonprofit leader who enjoys balancing strategy with collaborative community action, and believes in the power of food to build healthier, more connected communities, we would love to hear from you.</p><p class="text-node">The Food Skills Manager provides leadership for The Depot’s Cook stream, which includes:</p><ul class="list-node"><li><p class="text-node"><strong>The Resto Depot</strong>: our welcoming drop-in community meal program, where community members gather each week to enjoy nourishing, healthy meals and build connections.</p></li><li><p class="text-node"><strong>Community Kitchen Workshops</strong>: a diverse lineup of cooking, nutrition, and food literacy workshops for people of all ages and backgrounds.</p></li><li><p class="text-node"><strong>Boîte à Lunch</strong>: after-school and summer cooking and food literacy workshops that help youth develop practical cooking skills, build confidence in the kitchen, and develop a healthy relationship with food.</p></li></ul><p class="text-node"><strong>WHAT YOU WILL DO</strong></p><p class="text-node"><strong>Leadership &amp; Team Development</strong></p><ul class="list-node"><li><p class="text-node">Participate as an active member of The Depot’s leadership team, contributing to organizational leadership, strategic planning, and decision-making.</p></li><li><p class="text-node">Lead, mentor, and support the Food Skills team, including through regular team and individual check-in meetings.</p></li><li><p class="text-node">Ensure that team members have clarity on their roles and responsibilities, including through the development and review of annual work plans, annual performance reviews, and goal setting.</p></li></ul><p class="text-node"><strong>Program Leadership &amp; Innovation</strong></p><ul class="list-node"><li><p class="text-node">Provide strategic leadership for Food Skills programming, ensuring it remains participant-centred, responsive to evolving community needs, and aligned with organizational priorities.</p></li><li><p class="text-node">Ensure Food Skills programming is planned, delivered, and evaluated using The Depot’s logic models and stream logic chains to support continuous learning and improvement.</p></li><li><p class="text-node">Steward The Depot's Healthy Food Policy, ensuring it is consistently upheld across The Depot’s programming.</p></li><li><p class="text-node">Work collaboratively with program staff to identify opportunities for innovation, growth, and program enhancement.</p></li><li><p class="text-node">Maintain a strong understanding of the day-to-day operations of each Food Skills program and provide operational support or program coverage when needed.</p></li></ul><p class="text-node"><strong>Operations &amp; Community Partnerships</strong></p><ul class="list-node"><li><p class="text-node">Oversee the Food Skills program budgets in collaboration with program coordinators and the directors.</p></li><li><p class="text-node">Develop and steward partnerships that identify and respond to emerging community food needs, strengthen relationships across the community, and advance the priorities of The Depot's Strategic Plan across its three impact areas.</p></li><li><p class="text-node">Supervise the development of guidelines and practices governing the shared use of The Depot's kitchen and community spaces, ensuring these arrangements are mutually beneficial, operationally sustainable, and aligned with organizational priorities.</p></li><li><p class="text-node">Represent The Depot at community events, committees, and partner meetings, acting as an ambassador for the organization and contributing to emerging organizational initiatives.</p></li></ul><h3 class="heading-node">WHAT YOU BRING</h3><ul class="list-node"><li><p class="text-node">Excellent written and spoken French is required.</p></li><li><p class="text-node">Strong written and spoken English is also required, as this position regularly involves facilitating activities for a bilingual community and communicating with English-speaking participants, community partners, and institutional partners.
