In June 2016, I graduated from high school after more than ten years of studies in French. In need of a change, I enrolled in an anglophone CÉGEP without even having mastered the language. As anyone could imagine, it took me some time to adapt to this new stage of life, but it also led to the best opportunities, one of them, joining the Make-A-Wish Foundation Club. Being a part of this committee helped me develop my sense of organization, leadership and social skills, while allowing me to make new friends. Through bake sales, popcorn sales, raffles and monthly meetings, we raised money to help children with life-threatening conditions to fulfill their lifelong dreams. Even though this came with a lot of responsibilities, it was a challenge I accepted with open arms. I never embraced settling for a monotonous life. That being said, I like to set new goals for myself. This opportunity was for me a new objective, working towards unifying our community and making everyone feel like they deserve a better future. In summary, this project helped me realize that the unknown can seem scary, although it holds so many wonderful things. That applies in the professional world as well. I can't wait to demonstrate my social skills as well as my devoted and persevering nature.
