Position: Sous Chef

Terms of Employment: Term or contract/Full Time – 22 weeks: May 1, 2026 to October 4, 2026

Location: Minden, Ontario

Employment Address: Camp Onondaga – 1120 Rackety Trail, Minden, Ontario K0M 2K0

Hours of Work: 30 hours/week

Language: English

Benefits: Eligible for discretionary bonuses and/or salary increases in accordance with company policy. Eligible for discretionary bonuses and increases in salary. Room and board available at no charge (optional). Eligible for company paid certifications and/or training (ie. Food Handler Certificate).

Salary: $36.00 CAD / hour

Duties:

  • Preparing meals for large groups of people (breakfast, lunch, dinner, desserts and snacks);
  • Maintaining records of food consumptions;
  • Maintaining inventories;
  • Making food supplies requisitions when required;
  • Preparing and cook food on a regular basis and for special guests or functions;
  • Preparing and cook meals or specialty foods;
  • Training staff in preparation, cooking and handling food;
  • Supervising special diets and prepare food for customers with food allergies or intolerances, as required;
  • Creating new recipes and menu ideas;
  • Covering Head Chef and or Special Diets Chef when absent;
  • Supervising activities of specialist chefs, chefs, cooks and other kitchen workers
  • Creation of menus
  • Assisting in the hiring process and training of staff
  • Assisting at food fairs, congress

Requirements

Requirements:

  • 3 to 5 years of experience as a chef or sous chef;
  • Relevant supervisory experience;
  • Experience creating meals for large groups of people;
  • Completion of a related post-secondary program is required;
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time;
  • Good communication skills;
  • Positive attitude;
  • Able to work in a team environment;
  • Great organizational skills;
  • Able to train and share knowledge with all the staff.
